Shiza Saqib, born in Pakistan in 2002, is a multidisciplinary artist. She earned her undergraduate degree in Fine Art from the University of Edinburgh and her graduate degree in Psychology at Columbia University, focusing on Spirituality, Mind, and Body Studies. Her work gained notable recognition when she was selected for the Royal Scottish Academy New Contemporaries exhibition following her thesis show, with her piece showcased on the RSA building and featured on the cover of the exhibition catalogue. She also won the ArtsThread Fine Art Prize as part of the Global Creative Graduate
Showcase.
In her work, she explores the synergy between self-exploration and the creative process, weaving together her Eastern roots, Sufi psychology, and experience as a yoga teacher. Central to her practice is achieving a 'flow state' through intuitive movement, breathwork, and repetition. Her process is both meditative and investigative, exploring how slowness, introspection, and somatic awareness shape the act of making.
She aims to create spaces that nurture contemplation and presence, offering a unique lens to reimagine the relationship with the self. This vision is embodied through meditative installations, performances, and embroidered fabrics. Here, she curates a dynamic interplay between the creative process, the artwork, and its surroundings, inviting the audience into an immersive dialogue with both, the art, and their inner being.
